Hape eco-toys: designed in London for a world of caring and fun.

Hape eco-toys are designed with child development in mind. We love to see children share, be kind, play out doors and laugh out loud.

Our London design studio create toys made with high-quality eco-materials, that help develop the abilities of children and help them become the best they can be. We have consulted primary school teachers and ecologists to ensure caring and fun are in every toy. We know that children play with the same toy over and over again mastering the game or role-play… empowering children is great for self esteem… and they smile more too.

We then do all we can to ensure the products we make, keep our planet alive. Processes, energy efficiency, FSC wood and bamboo are all researched, so we can be kinder to our world. So if our children laugh more and can learn to love our world as much as you do, then we’ve succeeded.

We believe children do not play to learn; Children learn because they play.

Peter Handstein has been designing and making toys for over 30 years. He met Adam Devey Smith over 6 years ago at the Early Learning Centre head office and they became friends. With Adam’s 4 children and Peter’s 1, a belief in child centered education (having both helped run and set up primary schools) and a love of the outdoors…they discussed the need to help a new generation of children appreciate the world around them through play.

It’s a passion that is still true today with more international designers and craftsmen joining the team…all believing that “small steps by many can make a difference”.
